International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems - Special Issues - Guidelines for Guest Editors

Preparing a proposal
All guest editors who wish to publish a Special Issue (SI) would need to adhere to these guidelines:

  1. Guest editors send a proposal to martin@ujaen.es (this opens in a new tab) with a clear description of the subject of the SI and its relationship to the scope of the journal, guest editors, related collaborations (conference, workshop etc.), including:
    - title
    - CV of guest editor(s)
    - topic and aim/objective of the SI; this must be within the journal’s scope
    - main contents
    - quality control
    - important dates
  2. The topic of a SI must be in line with the scope of IJCI.

  3. When a SI includes extended versions of papers previously submitted papers to a workshop or conference, these versions must contain at least 50% new material and the title of the extended paper must be clearly different.
  4. All SI CFPs will be published on IJCI's website and will be open to submissions from interested researchers.
  5. The description of the SI must include a schedule (from CFP to camera ready papers) for the SI that will be fulfilled by the guest editors.
  6. Details of the review process (reviewers, reports, and response letters) must be enclosed with the accepted paper before its publication in IJCI. Each paper must be revised by at least by 2 reviewers.
  7. Guest Editors (2-4) should preferably be from at least 2 countries and include one who is a board member of IJCI in order to understand and control the quality of a SI. In addition, the majority of the guest editors should have SI coordination/publication experiences .
  8. Guest editors are responsible for making sure that camera ready papers are prepared in journal style.
  9. Papers in a SI should originate from multiple countries. At most, 50% of the authors can originate from the same country.
  10. One author cannot appear in more than one paper of a SI.
  11. Guest editors are to provide a 1-2 page editorial or preface to the SI.
  12. One SI may contain between 5 and 8 papers.

Publisher and EiC
Both the publisher and the EiC will carefully check each SI proposal and decide whether to accept it. The EiC will check each paper nominated by Guest editors, and will make a final decision on each paper within a SI.
