Waste Disposal & Sustainable Energy - Call for papers: Transforming Organic Wastes into Energy and Value-added Materials

The special issue below is open for submissions, the Submission Deadline is 31st March 2025.

Sustainable waste management has been a critical challenge globally. There is a renowned interest in sustainable waste management as it helps in minimizing environmental pollution and builds pathways to a green society. With the development of science, there are technological advancements and innovations to overcome the challenges in waste management. Compared to conventional waste management methods, transforming organic wastes into energy and value-added materials have gained a wide interest as these transformations could provide a range of advantageous including delivering economically profitable-energy rich, efficient and environmentally benign raw materials and subsequent products, and providing viable solutions to mitigate global warming and climate change. Waste-derived carbonaceous materials including biochar and hydrochar for carbon sequestration has gained a great interest. Also waste-derived biohydrogen, biodiesel, and bioethanol have been identified to serve as energy sources in a non-fossil fuel consuming world in the future. The aim of this special issue is to offer an avenue to disseminate knowledge, recent advancements and pressing challenges in transforming organic wastes into energy and value-added materials.
