Waste Disposal & Sustainable Energy - Call for papers: Innovative Biowaste Valorisation Technologies

Biomass waste generation is on the rise with increasing population and industrialization causing severe impacts on the environment and human health. The ever-rising global temperatures due to unsustainable industrial practices such as the use of rapidly depleting fossil fuels to produce chemicals and their derivatives have led to a shift in the research focus towards the development of clean and green technologies. To curb the environmental pollution from biomass waste, scientific disposal strategies need to be developed. Furthermore, biomass waste is a potential resource that can be recovered and converted into value-added products which can alleviate our dependency on natural resources. Although biomass waste valorisation is an established technology, innovative and novel strategies are vital to improve biomass waste valorisation techniques. In this context, this special issue aims to collect the original research articles and review articles on recent developments in the research area of innovative and novel biomass waste valorisation techniques including biological, thermal, and chemical conversion technologies.

The potential topics include:

  1. Biomass waste conversion technologies: Biological, thermal, and chemical conversion technologies
  2. Resource recovery from biomass waste
  3. Bioenergy and bioproducts from waste
  4. Low carbon and green biomass valorisation practices
  5. Techno-economic Analysis (TEA) and Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) of biomass conversion technologies
  6. Biomass waste utilization and recycling
