Journal of Prevention - Editorial Renewal Announcement: Seeking Managing and Associate Editors for the Journal of Prevention

The Journal of Prevention (JoP) is currently seeking dedicated professionals to join our editorial team as Associate Editors or Managing Editor. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong academic background in prevention research and practice to contribute to the advancement of our field.

JoP is dedicated to publishing high-quality research focusing on preventive measures, strategies, and practices aimed at improving public health. It covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to, disease prevention, health promotion, lifestyle changes, program evaluation and preventive healthcare services. The journal serves as a platform for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to share and discuss innovations and findings in the field of prevention to advance health outcomes globally. The Journal of Prevention is an official journal of the European Society for Prevention Research (EUSPR).

The standard term for the roles starts in June 2024 and lasts for two years. While the position is volunteer-based and comes without financial compensation, the role offers the opportunity to make substantial contributions towards shaping the Journal's policies and direction. It also serves as a valuable platform for professional networking within the research community and for helping the advance of prevention science worldwide.

The responsibilities and expected profile of the editors are described below.

*ASSOCIATE EDITOR*

Expected profile:

  • Holding a Ph.D. for more than 5 years.
  • Strong academic and publication record, with high-quality articles in recognized journals.
  • Expertise in the journal's field.
  • Experience in peer review and editorial processes.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with authors, reviewers, and the editorial team.
  • Commitment to maintaining the journal's standards and ethics.

Responsibilities:

  •  Managing the timely peer review of approximately 12 papers (1/month) per year.
  • Assigning qualified reviewers and evaluating the quality of the reviews.
  • Recommending decisions on manuscripts to the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Serving as a reviewer on manuscripts if necessary.
  • Advising, as necessary, on research integrity issues that might arise in the journal contributing to discussions about journal content and direction.

*MANAGING EDITOR*

Profile

  • Early career researcher
  • Experience with the peer review process and academic publishing.
  • Leadership ability to coordinate between editors, reviewers, and authors.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the publication process to ensure a timely peer review process.
  • Facilitating the peer review process, helping the Associated Editors to find reviewers.
  • Ensure that deadlines are met by both editors and authors, maintaining the publication schedule.
  • Managing the “X” (Twitter) account of the Journal.
