Springer Nature highlights over 180 world-changing articles
Expanded Change the World, One Article at a Time campaign brings findings on pressing global issues to the wider research community
Heidelberg | New York, 3 May 2017
Springer Nature’s Change the World, One Article at a Time campaign has been launched to showcase over 180 selected articles published in Springer Nature journals in 2016. Now in its second year, the initiative highlights research which could have the greatest impact on today’s most compelling issues such as climate change, disease and social inequality. All articles in the campaign are featured on a dedicated website and are freely available until 31 July 2017.
The campaign has been expanded from the previous year to include articles not just from Springer journals, but from the full Springer Nature portfolio. Three examples from the collection include:
• Fuelling the future: microbial engineering for the production of sustainable biofuels – a review about how microorganisms can produce next generation biofuels, published in Nature Reviews Microbiology.
• A porous humanitarian shield: The laws of war, the Red Cross, and the killing of civilians – original research into the role of non-governmental parties in civil wars, published in The Review of International Organizations.
• Organic agriculture 3.0 is innovation for research – an overview of how organic agriculture can resolve agronomic challenges, protect the environment and achieve food security, published in Organic Agriculture.
Juergen Symanzik, editor-in-chief of the journal Computational Statistics, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to review articles from the previous year and find the one with the highest practical relevance. We hope to see this campaign continued in future years!”
Ulrike Graiff, marketing director at Springer Nature, said: “I am so thrilled that this year we were able to expand the Change the World initiative to include even more journals and more articles. I would like our authors and editors to know that we, as a world leading publisher, would like to support their efforts to help make the world a better place.”
The articles can be found at Change the World.
