- Publishes studies on present-day land and submarine volcanic activity, Neogene–Quaternary volcanism, and the geochemistry of volcanic and postvolcanic processes.
- Also publishes studies on the mechanisms of plutonic activity, geothermal systems in volcanic regions, and seismological monitoring.
- Surveys earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and techniques for predicting them.
